Hitting: MIA (Optimal), MIN (GPP 1), PHI (GPP 2), NYM (GPP 3)

Fades/Stands: RyanWeathers

Weather: Cle/Sd, Bos/Pit

Welcome to a fun Sunday slate of baseball as we discuss our favorite pitching options and hitting stacks. Our stand of the slate is to fade Ryan Weathers as a mid range play because the strikeout upside is low considering the Toronto Blue Jays strikeout at a low clip as a team.

The optimal pitcher of this slate is Dylan Cease who takes on the New York Yankees. He has massive strikeout rates of at least 35% to both sides of the plate. He’ll get to take on a whopping seven batters with strikeout rates above 24% which feeds into his upside. The xStats also support this play as he holds lefties to a rate of (.109/.267) and righties to a rate of (.076/.247). This is a great way to start your lineups in cash game contests.

The next pitcher we like is Eury Perez who takes on the Cincinnati Reds. He has strikeout rates of 30% to LHH and 23% to RHH. He’ll get to take on six batters with strikeout rates above 22%. The xStats have been solid for Perez as he holds lefties to a rate of (.137/.270) and righties to a rate of (.185/.330). This is a fantastic option to consider for your lineups.

Now we move onto Sean Burke who takes on the Detroit Tigers. He has strikeout rates of 27% to both sides of the plate. He’ll get to take on five batters with strikeout rates above 21%. The xStats solidify this play as he holds lefties to a rate of (.160/.297) and righties to a rate of (.122/.284). This is one of the better pivots if you are looking to get unique in GPPs.

The value pitcher of this slate is Christian Scott who takes on the Washington Nationals. He has strikeout rates of at least 28% to both sides of the plate. Those are solid rates to overcome a team that only carries three batters with strikeout rates above 22%. The xStats also look good here as he holds lefties to a rate of (.131/.286) and RHH to a rate of (.116/.325). This is a great way to free up salary to spend elsewhere.

The optimal stack of this slate is the Miami Marlins who take on Nick Lodolo. The problem for Lodolo is that his sinker has been hit hard by both sides of the plate. Otto Lopez, Augustin Ramirez, Xavier Edwards, Leo Jimenez, and Javier Sanoja have had success against the sinker this year. Heiberto Hernandez and Esteury Ruiz have had success against LHP which puts them in play as options. Our favorite options are Xavier Edwards and Leo Jimenez.

The Minnesota Twins are the next team we like as they take on Andrew Painter. The problem for Painter is that his fastball has been demolished by both sides of the plate as his primary pitch. Kaelen Culpepper, Luke Keaschall, Royce Lewis, Josh Bell, Byron Buxton, and Trevor Larnach have had some form of success against the fastball this year. Kody Clemens is viable due to his success against RHP this year. Our favorite options are Byron Buxton and Trevor Larnach.

On the other side of the previous team, we also like the Philadelphia Phillies who take on Dean Kramer. The problem for Kramer is that his sinker has been destroyed by both sides of the plate. Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, Bryce Harper, Bryson Stott, Alec Bohm, Brandon Marsh, and JT Realmuto have had success against the sinker this year. Luis Arraez and Justin Crawford are viable as LHH since Kramer struggles against that side of the plate in general as well. Our favorite options are Kyle Schearber and Bryson Stott.

The New York Mets make our list last as they take on Jake Irvin. The problem for Irvin is that his fastball gets destroyed by LHH and sinker gets punished by RHH. Jared Young, Carson Benge, Francisco Lindor, and AJ Ewing are the lefties that have had success against the fastball this year. Bo Bichette, Luis Robert, Marcus Semien, and Luis Torrens have had some form of success against the sinker as righties. Our favorite options are Francisco Lindor and Luis Torrens.
