Another 4-13 matchup where the 13 seed is more than live to spring the upset here. Not many people know about the Pride, but they are a very dangerous unit. The stylistic clash here is going to be one to behold. Bama plays at the 4th fastest pace in the country while Hofstra plays at a sloth’s pace, ranking 334th. Hofstra also is exceptional at forcing teams into a ton of long two point attempts, which are the most inefficient shots in the game, ranking 3rd in two point percentage allowed and 6th in average two point field goal attempt distance. Mix in the fact that Hofstra has an elite starting lineup from a free throw shooting perspective and this could get very interesting down the stretch if the Pride can force this game to be played at their preferred pace. Lastly, a huge story broke this week that Aden Holloway, Alabama’s second leading scorer, was arrested for felony drug possession and he has been kicked off the team. His status for the game is very much in doubt and obviously this would be a massive loss for the Crimson Tide. Based on the most recent comments from their coach, it seems highly unlikely he’ll be playing. We like taking a shot here!
