CFB Night Slate Breakdown 9/2

Stacks: UTSA (optimal), UNC/USC, PSU

Optimal: Harris, Giddens, Cephus, Golden

We have a fun slate tonight with 3 premier stacks for GPPs, and some clear top plays for cash games and optimal GPP lineups.

We’ll start with a fun GPP game stack. For UNC it’s Drake Maye leading the troops, which won’t include Tez Walker — who is still in the appeals process of his eligibility battle. If Walker somehow plays he’s the top stacking option, but it seems very unlikely as of now. Maye is an elite DFS QB, as he rushed for 7 TD last year and tossed 38. Maye can be played by himself on this slate as we see how targets shape out, but Kobe Paysour looks to be an elite UNC option if we don’t see Tez. Paysour is priced at only $5,000 on DK. We like game stacking the UNC and SCAR game in GPPs as it should be the most competitive on the slate and both QBs project lower owned than Shough and Harris. Wells Jr is our optimal target from SCAR, and outside of him targets will be hard to pin down. Stacking Maye with Paysour or Rattler with Wells Jr. and running it back with the other team’s top flex player will be a great contrarian stack in GPPs.

As far as the optimal plays go, we think you need to use Shough and Harris in cash, but it’s Harris that is good we’d still use him in GPPs. UTSA is fantastic for DFS. Frank Harris is the top QB on this slate for us and he’s a dual-threat guy who funnels targets pretty well for stacks. Josh Cephus and Decorian Clark are the returnees with a very good connection. Chris Carpenter is taking on the transferred Zakhari Franklin’s role. This could be huge, and his spot atop the depth chart makes Carpenter an intriguing option, but without having a clear understanding of his role we can only use him in GPPs. Tykee ogle-Kellog is listed as a co-starter here with Clark. The reason for that may be that Clark is a bit banged up, so if he can’t go, Ogle-Kellog immediately moves to our top UTSA stack play. As it stands now the priority is Cephus by a lot, and then Clark. If both play, they’re the optimal guys in this offense, but it’s Cephus we can really trust. You can use Carpenter as a way to be different, and Ogle-Kellog as a more GPP option, but if you want to play the best plays we’d stack Harris with Cephus and move on.

One of the top running backs on the slate also comes from UTSA in Kevorian Barnes. He’s a great play and should be used in cash, but in GPPs we don’t mind fading him for other good options and hope for Harris taking all the TDs.

Our favorite RB play is DJ Giddens from KSU. He’s the clear top option in our projections and is way underpriced. We wouldn’t fade him on any lineups. Another great option to get off the Barnes chalk is Bhayshul Tuten from Virginia Tech. He should get the bulk of the workload in a very easy matchup with ODU. He should be lower owned than Barnes as people look to get exposure to UTSA before they worry about VT exposure.

At wide receiver, Wells Jr. and Paysour are our favorite plays in GPPs, but only Wells Jr. is really safe enough for cash games. The optimal WR runback for the UTSA stack is Matthew Golden. He’s the top guy for UH and works perfectly with Harris-Cephus. So your cash

If you want a low owned two-man stack, consider Drew Allar to Lambert-Smith. We like a stack here given Allar not being a proven runner, and Lambert-Smith is the top returning option. It sounds like they have a good rapport so this stack has upside while most people look at other options for QB.

Conclusion: Frank Harris and Cephus are must plays across the board. UTSA has some questionable WRs going into the game so make sure to be in Discord before lock. We have an edge with our team scouring updates and giving you news immediately in Discord, so make sure you use it. In cash you probably want Shough as your QB2, but in GPPs we prefer one of the contrarian options we’ve highlighted or a value option from the projections. At RB, we’d lock Giddens. Barnes is the safe RB2 for cash, but we like Tuten as a GPP pivot. The optimal WRs come from the same game in Golden and Cephus. Wells and Paysour are the next two WRs we like best.
