Starting with the Cubs’ starting pitcher, Shota Imanaga, we want to point out the not-so-great X stats across the board for Brewers’ hitters, especially against LHP. Andrew Vaughn and Jackson Chourio are the only Brewers in the lineup tonight with an xISO above .150 against LHP, with a number of guys coming in below .100. In terms of xwOBA, 6 of the 9 Brewers in the lineup own an xwOBA under .320 against LHP.
On the other side we are expecting Aaron Ashby to open things up for the Brewers, followed by Quinn Priester in a bulk relief role. Priester has been pretty solid, allowing batters from both sides to xISOs below .151 and is holding RHH to an xwOBA of just .284. What really stands out to us are his numbers against RHH over the last 30 days, as he is striking them out at 35% and holding them to a measly .042/.218 line. He should face 5 of them tonight. Beyond that, we have seen the Brewers string together bullpen games in the past where they really nail down some key matchups which should keep the Cubs off the scoreboard.
