Welcome to a Sunday slate of games as we discuss our favorite plays! Let’s dive right in and have ourselves a day!
The optimal pitcher of this slate is Jesus Luzardo who takes on the New York Mets. He has strikeout rates of at least 28% to both sides of the plate. He’ll get to face five batters with strikeout rates above 22% which adds to his upside. The X stats also look solid as he holds lefties to a rate of (.054/.221) and righties to a rate of (.126/.301). This is the ideal play in cash game contests.
The next pitcher we like is Hunter Brown who takes on the Detroit Tigers. He has strikeout rates of 37% to LHH and 33% to RHH. He’ll get to face at least 5 batters with strikeout rates above 26% which gives him some juicy upside. The X stats have also been reliable as he holds lefties to a rate of (.094/.258) and righties to a rate of (.056/.237). He dominated this Detroit team once already, and we expect him to do so again which makes him an elite spend up option.
Now we move onto Gavin Williams who takes on the Seattle Mariners. He has strikeout rates of 30% to LHH and 26% to RHH. He’ll get to face five batters with strikeout rates above 22% which is good in terms of upside. The X stats have also been good as he holds LHH to a rate of (.325xwOBA) and righties to a rate of (.174/.339). He makes for an interesting GPP option on this slate.
The value pitcher of this slate is Connor Prielipp who takes on the Colorado Rockies. He has strikeout rates of 21% to LHH and 22% to RHH. He gets to face 6 batters with strikeout rates above 22% which is very good. The X stats also look decent as he holds lefties to a rate of (.326xwOBA) and righties to a rate of (.145/.322). This is a great way to free up salary to spend up premium bats.
The optimal team of this slate is the Baltimore Orioles who take on Zack Littell. He has a fastball that gets punished by both sides of the plate. Taylor Ward, Pete Alonso, Samuel Basallo, Dylan Beavers, Jeremiah Jackson, and Colton Cowser have had success against the fastball this year. Adley Rutschman is viable due to his success against RHP this year. Lastly, Leody Tavares and Gunnar Henderson are viable because the projections love them today. Our favorite options are Alonso and Cowser.
The Miami Marlins are the next stack we like as they take on Kyle Leahy. He also has a fastball that gets destroyed by both sides of the plate. Xavier Edwards, Otto Lopez, Kyle Stowers, Owen Cassie, Griffin Conine, and Joe Mack have had success against the fastball this year. Heiberto Hernandez is also viable due to his success against LHP this year. Our favorite options are Edwards and Lopez.
The next stack we like are the Tampa Bay Rays who take on Merrill Kelly. A common theme here is pitcher fastballs that get destroyed by both sides of the plate and that is exactly what we have here. Jonathan Aranda, Junior Caminero, Cedric Mullins, Richie Palacios, and Hunter Feduccia have had success against the fastball this year. Victor Mesa Jr. and Yandy Diaz are also viable due to their success against RHP this year. Our favorite options are Caminero and Feduccia.
The last stack on our radar is the Cleveland Guardians who take on Emmerson Hancock. Like the rest of these pitchers, he also has a fastball that gets hit hard by both sides of the plate. Travis Bazzana, Brayan Rocchio, Khalil Watson, Cooper Ingle, Austin Hedges, and Daniel Schneemann have had success against the fastball this year. Our favorite options are Schneemann and Watson.
