Max Scherzer is on the mound for Texas tonight, and although it seems like a daunting matchup, we’re expecting the Angels to get after him. Scherzer has shut down righties as of late to the tune of a .076 xISO. However, lefties have done some real damage, posting a .235 xISO. Lefties have also mauled his fastball with a .405 xISO, and he throws it about 47% of the time to lefties. Moniak, Ohtani, Moustakas, and Thaiss all line up on the left side of the plate, with Rengifo and Velazquez being switch hitters. These six do heavy damage against fastballs. Moniak (.404), Ohtani (.431), Moustakas (.205), and Thaiss (.217) all have elite xISOs, with Rengifo and Velazquez posting solid numbers as well at .149 and .176. With about half of Los Angeles’ lineup set up to do damage against Scherzer, we love their over at 3.5 runs and would take it to -145.
