New Zealand looked like they came to play at this World Cup. They took it to Iran and continued to attack throughout the game, looking for their best guy in Chris Wood as often as possible and playing off him. Iran was not comfortable going forward and let themselves get caught being stretched out a bit too much, and Egypt will be willing to stay compact and let their forwards lead the break less often, but in better spots to score. We think New Zealand can’t get away with flooding the front third like this against Egypt, and they are better at punishing teams who commit far forward. They should be able to catch New Zealand early, trying not to get too far forward, and then when they have to chase the game, it’ll leave them further vulnerable, letting Egypt get a comfortable victory. Lock in on Egypt!
