Note on FAAB Leagues: We don’t recommend spending much on any position outside of RB. There are usually decent options out there every week, and they don’t hold nearly as much trade value as RBs. It’s also much trickier to have a mid-level WR on your bench because there’s rarely a clear time to use them, whereas it’s quite simple for RBs when the other members of their backfield are out. For that reason, we aren’t going to suggest high bid amounts for any position other than RB. You know if you desperately need a QB, WR, or TE. If you do, then it makes sense to bid 8-12% of your budget to take care of that need. If you’re adding those positions to keep them on your bench, then we would bid 1% or 0 if that’s allowed. We like to see if we can get those guys for free, but we save our budget for RBs. Lastly, you never NEED a defense or kicker. We stream them every week and never bid more than $1. Just put in claims for the top 6 options, and surely you’ll get one that’s good enough. These are not predictable enough positions that getting the “best” option is worth much, and they hold no trade value.
Note on Start/Sit Questions: Our team is available to you in Discord nearly 24/7, but we ask that you check the projections before asking us who you should start or sit. The FanDuel projections can be used for Half-PPR leagues, and DraftKings for Full-PPR. If you’re choosing between two guys and one projects a full point better than the other, you don’t need to ask us who we’d start. If it’s really close or there’s more nuance to the strategy, we’re happy to discuss it with you.
Week 4 Waiver Wire Targets
After a relatively slow week of injuries there are not a ton of important waiver wire targets this week but we did manage to still find 3 studs that could make an immediate impact on your roster next week.
Keon Coleman – WR, Bills
After a disappointing first two years in the league Coleman took advantage of a depleted WR room in Buffalo in Week 3, snagging 6 of his 7 targets for 116 yards and a score. With DJ Moore re-aggravating his shoulder injury this weekend, Coleman could be able to take advantage of that again this week. Even if Moore doesn’t miss the game we still expect Coleman to keep a larger role, and it’s certainly possible that he finally realizes the potential that had him ranked as such a high draft pick. We recommend bidding around 3% of FAAB if you’ll be stashing him, but up to 5-7% if you really need a WR to start this week.
Will Shipley – RB, Eagles
With both Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby expected to miss Week 5, that leaves Will Shipley as the lone incumbent back in the Eagles backfield for at least one week. Obviously Saquon will take back the lead role as soon as he is able to play, but while he is out we expect Shipley to be a key part of the Eagles offense as the passing game continues to struggle with Hurts throwing for less than 200 yards in back to back weeks. Given Shipley is a short term fix we only recommend picking him up if you need a starting RB this week and we recommend bidding around 5-10% for him to fill that spot, depending on how bad your alternate choices are.
Emanuel Wilson – RB, Seahawks
Emanuel Wilson took full advantage of Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price being out this past weekend, taking his 21 carries for 81 yards and 3 receptions for 39 yards while also adding on two touchdowns. With Charbonnet still not expected to return until at least Week 6 (although no timetable has been officially set) and Price on the IR for the foreseeable future, we expect to see Wilson remain as the RB1 for a while. We recommend bidding between 10-20% on Wilson depending on your situation as we see him having starting value for a couple of weeks at least.
It’s worth noting that Roman Wilson and Dohnte Meyers are popular pickup options, but we aren’t wanting to spend much on either guy. Wilson seems to have run hot with a few targets going for big plays, but we have a hard time imagining him as a useful weekly starter. Meyers has more upside as a rookie who seemingly jumps into a decent role if Chase and/or Higgins are banged up. He could offer some short term value if Chase is out this week, but I wouldn’t overpay here. Iosivas had a few pop games in the past and people would overpay for him on the waiver wire. I’d spend low on these guys and see if you can get them for free, with Meyers the better option since you’ll never know when to start Roman Wilson.
Summary: While we don’t see a ton of guys on this week’s target list, we do still see great value in Shipley and Wilson as they step into RB1 roles for the upcoming weeks. Keon Coleman should see his role remain relatively secure while Moore is sidelined, and even once Moore returns Coleman could have upside if he plays well in a high powered Bills offense.
