This one really comes down to the pitching matchup and we believe backing Blake Snell is the way to go. Luzardo is a very formidable opponent, but he has shown the ability to blow up in some of his starts this season, and that typically happens when he is not getting the swing and miss off his most thrown pitch, his sweeper. The complement to that pitch is his fastball, and if the Dodgers can sit on that, they could get to Zeus early and often. The fastball numbers are not great for Luzardo as he is allowing LHH a line of .269/.356 off it, with RHH slashing .203/.365. As a result, Ohtani (.475/.480 vs FB), Betts (xwOBA .398 vs FB), T. Hernandez (.223/.391 vs FB), Freeman (.352/.428 vs FB), Tommy Edman (xISO .201 vs FB), K.Hernandez (.295/.371 vs FB), and Pages (.203/.341 vs FB) are all in great spots. Snell on the other hand is striking out LHH at a 35% clip and holding them to a line of just .105/.264 with RHH striking out 27% of the time and slashing just .100/.295. Overall, we think this is great value for the Dodgers and are backing them to take a commanding 2-0 lead.
