Pitching/THE STAND: Hayden Songbird/Jacob Lopez
Hitting/THE STAND STACKS: SD / TEX / ATH LHH
Weather: All Clear!
The two pitchers to use on this slate are Jacob Lopez and Hayden Birdsong. Lopez has been on fire the last 30 days as he has K rates of 42% to LHH and 24% to RHH. The Giants have 6 batters with K rates over 25%. The X stats are excellent as well, with lefties only hitting (.063/.194) and righties only hitting (.133/.309). The next pitcher to use is Hayden Birdsong who has K rates of 23% to LHH and 22% to RHH. The Athletics have 6 batters with K rates above 22%. The X stats are also fine in this spot he holds righties to a rate of (.152/.298) and he will face 6 of them which is reassuring since he struggles against lefties.
In terms of hitting, we want to target 3 groups. The first is the Texas Rangers who take on a bad Kyle Hart who struggles with his fastball to both sides of the plate. Kyle Higashioka (.232/.391), Jake Burger (.466/.398), Wyatt Langford (.340/.412), Adolis Garcia (.285/.358), Marcus Semien (.352wOBA), Corey Seager (.526/.609), Josh Smith (.353wOBA) and Sam Haggerty (.387xwOBA) are the Rangers to target.
The next are the San Diego Padres who take on Jack Leiter who struggles with his fastball to both sides of the plate. Fernando Tatis (.384/.518), Manny Machado (.352/.452), Luis Arraez (.358wOBA), Gavin Sheets (.298/.385), Xander Bogaerts (.406xwOBA), Jake Cronenworth (.394xwOBA), Martin Maldonado (.257xISO), and Trenton Brooks (.385/.423) are the Padres who have had success against that pitch. Jackson Merrill is also in play given his success against RHP (.198/.364).
The last group are the lefties of the Athletics due to Birdsong’s struggles against that side of the plate. Lawrence Butler (.200/.362), Nick Kurtz (.448/.484), and Tyler Soderstrom (.256/.418) have had success against his poor fastball.
