The 49ers’ had a strong campaign with Brock Purdy under center last season, but we think they’re going to run into some trouble quickly today in Pittsburgh. This Pittsburgh defense may be the best unit on the field today, as they ranked fifth in defensive DVOA over the last nine weeks of 2022. This defense already had studs in Minkah Fitzpatrick, T.J. Watt, Cameron Heyward, and Larry Ogunjobi. They went out and added Patrick Peterson to bolster the secondary, and draft Jooey Porter Jr., Nate Herbig, aand Keeanu Benton. The 49ers offense may have some trouble. On the other side of the ball, Kenny Pickett made some strides last year, and now got another offseason to build chemistry with his offensive weapons. Mike Tomlin is also historically a great bet as an underdog, as he’s 15-4-3 ATS as a home dog in his coaching career, and 13-9 straight up as a home dog. We like Pittsburgh to get the victory today. They’re currently +105, and we’d take them up to -115.
